
CHARACTER DESIGN & CONCEPT WORK
A collection of some of my creature/object/plant designs and concept work.

The focus of this was the creation of a creature based off of elements of real animals to make a more believable design. I used rhinos and whales, wanting to create a massive creature that traversed land and water and seemed impervious to lead into the story I made for them. I did animal studies and created characters for both a rhino and a whale before starting this project to help give me a sense of what I was working with and how I could characterize it.

Here I was creating objects found in a particular character's home, hoping to convey her elegant but eccentric personality via her taste in items.

Here I designed the special book my character Einar carries around as an older man. It's pages are blank but numbered and when Einar puts his hand through the hole, he can mentally transcribe/access information associated with each numbered page. If something is small enough to fit through the hole, he can have what is essentially a 3D model of it contained within.








Creatures and plants I concepted and later lined for my team's board game, Magic Havoc. Below are concept sketches and refined sketches of each
