Brass Aviary
An anachronistically designed building of varying architectural periods, the Brass Aviary serves as a home for the capital cities birds. In exchange, the many trumpets extruding from the building amplify the sounds from within, able to be heard from wherever you are within the city walls.

After going through iterations in my sketchbook, I went to Photoshop to continue refining my idea and get a general layout. I saved some of the planning and most of the details for Blender where I could see the physical space and make decisions from there.
Once I got a rough block-out, I exported a variety of angles to draw over to fill in spaces with detail and start thinking more about the final composition.

From there I implement my second pass of concepts, adjusted my lighting to my composition preference, and put in placeholders/references for people and a tree coming out from the building's interior.

I then take my renders into Photoshop and begin the painting process. This includes rendering, finding ways to populate to scene, and drawing the eye to the trumpets at the entrance.
